Oberstar Meeting with Local Farmers in Pine City

Congressman Jim Oberstar will be sitting down with local dairy farmers to discuss key issues facing Minnesota’s milk producers.
The meeting will be open to the public and will include representatives from the Minnesota Farmers Union, Minnesota Milk Producers and the Minnesota Farm Bureau.
“From low milk price to health care concerns and obtaining credit with which to operate, Minnesota farmers are facing tough issues,” said Oberstar. “I’m looking for input and ideas so I can be an effective advocate for them in Washington, D.C.”

What: Oberstar meeting with local farmers, Minnesota Farmers Union, Minnesota Farm Bureau and Minnesota Milk Producers.
When: Friday, August 7, 2009, 1:15 to 2:00 PM
Where: City Hall Community Room, 300 Fifth Street SE, Pine City

The last Friday of the month

Opps I forgot to mention that the last Friday of the months of the Market we will have Kelly Appeldorn nutrition educator from the extension office at the market handing out some great samples and recipes and even showing you how to cook some great food with that produce you just bought- or maybe convince you to buy something you did not know what to do with. So tomorrow we will have samples and music, besides all the wonderful vendors- can life get any better than that!

Come for the Market stay for the Music

Tomorrow we here in Pine City are so lucky to hear music played by Xavier Jara (15) and Austin Wahl (16) who are 2009 Schubert Club Student Scholarship Winners in classical guitar.  They both study at the MacPhail Center For Music in Minneapolis with Alan Johnston.  Xavier and Austin also play in the MacPhail Guitar Quartet.  On Friday they will play solo pieces as well as a duet together.
Xavier has been on Minnesota Public Radio to hear him follow this link to Xavier’s family blog, where you will find a link to the MPR program. Xavier is a friend of mine, so I would love you all to come out and support him and his fellow Schubert winner.

Think about taking your lunch break at the park; eat, listen and buy:)
